Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

We believe privacy is straightforward. This document explains exactly what data skilldeo collects, why, and how you can control it — without legal jargon.

Overview

skilldeo (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates an AI-powered video screening platform used by recruiters and hiring teams to screen candidates. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have over it.

This policy applies to everyone who uses skilldeo — including recruiters who manage hiring, candidates who complete video interviews, and visitors to our website.

By accessing or using our platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

What Data We Collect

For Recruiters & Employers

  • Name and work email address
  • Company name and contact details
  • Job role information and hiring preferences
  • Platform usage activity (logins, agent creation, interview settings)
  • Billing information (processed securely through our payment provider — we do not store card details)

For Candidates

  • Name and email address (if provided by the recruiter or entered during the interview)
  • Video and audio recordings of your interview answers
  • Written transcripts of your spoken responses
  • AI-generated scores and evaluations for each answer
  • Proctoring data — including eye contact patterns, tab switch events, screen presence, voice authenticity, pause patterns, and additional person detection
  • Device and browser information used during the interview

Automatically Collected Data

  • IP address and approximate location
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type
  • Pages visited and time spent on the platform
  • Cookies and session identifiers (see Cookies section below)

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect only for legitimate purposes related to running the platform:

  • To deliver the service — providing video interviews, AI scoring, proctoring reports, and candidate shortlisting to recruiters
  • To evaluate candidate responses — our AI analyses answers for relevance, communication clarity, confidence, and role-fit based on the Skillpack selected by the recruiter
  • To run proctoring — automatically monitoring 6 integrity signals (eye contact, tab switches, voice authenticity, additional persons, screen presence, pause patterns) to assist recruiters in reviewing interview authenticity
  • To improve our platform — anonymised, aggregated data helps us improve AI accuracy and platform performance
  • To communicate with you — sending service notifications, interview links, OTP codes, and support responses
  • To process payments — billing and subscription management for recruiter accounts
  • To meet legal obligations — complying with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests

We do not use candidate data for advertising, profiling outside the recruitment context, or any purpose unrelated to the interview you were invited to complete.

Video Interviews & Recordings

When a candidate completes a video interview on skilldeo, we record their video and audio responses. These recordings are:

  • Stored securely and accessible only to authorised users at the recruiting organisation that invited the candidate
  • Used to generate AI scores, transcripts, and proctoring reports
  • Retained for the period specified in the recruiter's data retention settings or applicable legal requirements
  • Never shared with third parties for advertising, resale, or purposes unrelated to the hiring process

Candidates should be aware that their video interview is recorded, scored by AI, and reviewed by the recruiter and their team. This is communicated to candidates before they begin the interview.

Proctoring & AI Analysis

skilldeo's Proctoring Suite monitors 6 signals during a video interview to help recruiters assess interview authenticity. These signals are:

  • Eye Detection — whether the candidate maintained screen focus
  • Tab Switch Status — whether the candidate navigated away from the interview tab
  • Additional Person — whether a second person appeared on camera
  • Scripted Voice — whether the voice detected appears AI-generated or synthetic
  • Out of Screen — whether the candidate left the camera frame
  • Pause Detection — whether unusually long pauses occurred before answering

Proctoring data is processed automatically and presented to recruiters as Pass, Fail, or Review flags. These flags are indicators — not automatic disqualifications. Recruiters are guided to watch the relevant video before making any decision based on a proctoring flag.

Our AI scoring and proctoring systems are designed to evaluate job-relevant communication skills and interview conduct. They are not used to make automated final hiring decisions — a human recruiter reviews all results.

Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your data. We share data only in these limited situations:

  • Within your organisation — recruiters can share candidate profiles, videos, and reports with colleagues and hiring managers within their company
  • Service providers — trusted third-party providers who help us operate the platform (cloud hosting, payment processing, email delivery). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government authority, we may disclose data to comply with legal obligations
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, data may be transferred to the acquiring entity under the same privacy protections

Candidate data is never shared with other companies, recruiters outside the hiring organisation, or third parties for marketing or profiling purposes.

Data Security

We take data security seriously. Our measures include:

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
  • Access to candidate data is restricted to authorised users within the recruiting organisation
  • Platform access is protected by OTP-based authentication
  • Our infrastructure is hosted on enterprise-grade cloud services with regular security audits
  • We do not store payment card details — payments are handled by a PCI-compliant payment provider

Despite our best efforts, no system is completely immune to security risks. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at social@skilldeo.ai.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain data for as long as necessary to provide the service and meet legal obligations:

  • Recruiter account data — retained for the duration of the account and up to 12 months after account closure
  • Candidate interview data (video, audio, transcripts, scores, proctoring) — retained according to the recruiter's data retention settings. Default retention is 12 months from the interview date
  • Website usage data — typically retained for up to 6 months

Candidates may request deletion of their data at any time (see Your Rights below). Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected
  • Deletion — request that your data be deleted from our systems
  • Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests

To exercise any of these rights, email us at social@skilldeo.ai. We will respond within 30 days. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

Note: Candidate requests for data deletion or access should be directed to the recruiting organisation that conducted the interview in the first instance. We can assist candidates directly if the recruiter cannot be reached.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in during your session
  • Remember your preferences
  • Understand how visitors use our website (analytics)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and notify active users by email where required.

Continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
