Best Practices

How to Get the Best Results

What experienced recruiters do differently on the skilldeo platform

✓ Recommended

  • Use a relevant Skillpack that matches the role — it directly affects question quality
  • Send the interview link with a short, warm message to reduce candidate drop-off
  • Review the proctoring report before watching the video for context
  • Use the Expert Override when you disagree with an AI score — your judgment matters
  • Share candidate profiles with hiring managers before the final round
  • Set a response deadline — 48–72 hours works best for most roles
  • Look at Behavior Result (communication & confidence) alongside the score
  • Use the transcript to quickly jump to specific answers without watching the full video

✗ Avoid These

  • Rejecting a candidate based on proctoring flags alone — always watch the video first
  • Sending interview links without context — candidates who know what to expect perform better
  • Ignoring the Strengths & Weaknesses summary — it saves significant review time
  • Using the wrong Skillpack — a mismatch leads to irrelevant questions and poor scores
  • Skipping the proctoring report for flagged interviews — understand the flag before deciding
  • Making final hiring decisions based only on the AI score — treat it as a data point, not a verdict
  • Keeping candidates waiting more than 5 days — this hurts your offer acceptance rate
  • Forgetting to tell candidates which company is interviewing them — transparency builds trust

Proctoring Guide

How to Read a Proctoring Report

Understanding each signal helps you make fair, informed decisions about flagged interviews

Flags Are Context — Not Verdicts

A proctoring flag means the system detected something worth reviewing — not that the candidate cheated. Your job as a recruiter is to watch the video, read the flag reason, and use your judgment. The AI supports your decision; it doesn't replace it.

Eye Detection

Tracks if the candidate was looking at the screen. Brief glances away are normal — look for sustained avoidance before treating it as a concern.

Watch video first

Tab Switch Status

Logs if the candidate left the interview tab. One or two switches happen — repeated switches during answers are worth a closer look.

Check frequency

Additional Person

Detects a second face on camera. Watch the clip — it may be someone walking past, not someone helping with answers.

Watch video clip

Scripted Voice Override

Detects AI-generated or synthetic voices. This is a high-confidence signal — if flagged, the voice is likely not the candidate's own.

High-confidence flag

Out of Screen

Flags when the candidate left the camera frame. A brief exit or two is fine. Long or frequent absences during answers warrant a closer look.

Check duration

System Scripted Voice

Confirms a real human voice was active throughout. A Pass means the candidate spoke naturally using their own mic.

Pass = authentic voice

If a candidate contacts you about a false positive flag — for example, a power cut, family member in frame, or connectivity issue — review the video timestamp of the flag and use your judgment. Most legitimate technical issues are visible in the recording. You can override the proctoring result and mark the interview as valid.
